Besides handling donated books, I also oversee volunteers and “community service workers.” In general, community service workers are being required to do work while volunteers are choosing to do work.
I try not to give my CSWs “crap jobs,” but crap is in the eye of the beholder.
I am also the library’s “Vending Machine Scapegoat,” a title I wear proudly.
I like to remind people, “Change is inevitable – except from a vending machine.”
